AI receptionist

An AI receptionist that answers every call.

An AI receptionist answers your business line when nobody can, in a natural voice, captures who is calling and why, books the appointment and passes urgent calls to a person. Here is how it works, the Australian rules that apply and what it costs inside a Launch Your Dream suite.

What does an AI receptionist do?

It answers calls to your business number, introduces itself as an AI assistant for your business, answers common questions from your approved knowledge base, captures the caller's details and need, books the appointment into your calendar, and transfers or flags the call for a person when it should. Every call is logged in the CRM with a summary.

  • Answers after hours, at lunch and when the team is on another call.
  • Books straight into the calendar, using your booking rules.
  • Sends the caller a confirmation text.
  • Transfers urgent calls, or sends your team an alert with the summary.
  • Logs the call, the summary and the outcome against the contact.

Do I need an AI receptionist or missed call text back?

Missed call text back is the simpler first step: the caller gets a text within seconds with a booking link. An AI receptionist goes further and has the conversation on the call itself. Businesses with many after-hours or urgent calls, or callers who prefer to talk, usually get more from the voice receptionist.

What are the rules for an AI receptionist in Australia?

Tell callers at the start that they are speaking with an AI assistant and that the call may be recorded, and give them a way to reach a person. Recording laws differ by state, and New South Wales generally requires the consent of everyone on the call. Outbound marketing calls by an AI voice are covered by telemarketing rules.

The NSW Surveillance Devices Act 2007 (section 7) allows a party to record a private conversation with the consent of all principal parties, with limited exceptions. Western Australia and South Australia have similar rules, while Queensland allows a party to record but restricts publishing. A clear opening message covers all of them.

The Do Not Call Register Act 2006 treats a call with a synthetic voice as a voice call, so AI outbound marketing calls must follow the Register and the telemarketing industry standard. Launch Your Dream receptionists answer inbound calls. Read the full guide to AI voice agent rules in Australia.

What should an AI receptionist say when it answers?

Keep the opening short and honest: the business name, that it is an AI assistant, that the call may be recorded, and how to reach a person. Then ask one question at a time. Callers accept AI quickly when it is clear and fast, and get frustrated when it pretends to be human or loops.

  • 'Thanks for calling Bright Solar. I'm the AI assistant, and this call may be recorded. I can book a site visit or take a message, or say team member at any time.'
  • Ask for the name, suburb and what they need, then confirm it back.
  • Offer two times, not an open-ended question.
  • End with what happens next and a confirmation text.

How much does an AI receptionist cost in Australia?

Inside a Launch Your Dream suite the voice receptionist is an optional add-on with included minutes, priced per suite. In October 2026, LYD Pest Control published it at A$50 a month and LYD Solar Suite and LYD Assist from $100 a month for 150 minutes, all plus GST. Call charges and higher volumes are quoted in your proposal.

Compare any AI receptionist on the full monthly cost: included minutes, per-minute charges after that, phone number rental, setup, and whether bookings land in your own calendar and CRM or in someone else's app.

How is an AI receptionist set up?

Sharktech Global connects your business number, writes the greeting and knowledge base with you, sets your booking rules and transfer numbers, and tests real call scenarios before go-live. Australian business phone numbers now need business identity documents registered with the carrier, so have your ABN and address details ready for onboarding.
