Accounting practice software
Accounting practice software for the front office.
LYD Accrual OS takes a practice from first enquiry to engaged client: onboarding, document requests and reminders timed to the lodgment program, beside the job software you already use.
Why are accounting practices rethinking onboarding in 2026?
Because onboarding now carries legal weight. AML/CTF obligations started for accountants on 1 July 2026, with customer due diligence required before a designated service is provided. The TPB Code also requires written disclosures to new clients and proof of identity before work starts. Email and spreadsheets do not hold that well.
AUSTRAC says tranche 2 entities must enrol within 28 days of first providing a regulated service, keep an AML/CTF program, and keep records for at least 7 years. AUSTRAC expects reporting entities to grow from about 19,000 to close to 100,000 (31 March 2026).
Not every engagement is caught. Check which of your services are designated services in AUSTRAC's accountant guidance before you change your process.
What does LYD Accrual OS do for a practice?
It captures every enquiry into a CRM and tracks it to engagement, runs client onboarding and document requests in one place, sends automated deadline and lodgment reminders, books meetings, asks for reviews and shows the pipeline on one dashboard. Engaged clients then move into your practice management software.
- Enquiries tracked from first contact to signed engagement.
- Client onboarding and document requests in one place, instead of scattered across email threads.
- Automated deadline and lodgment reminders.
- Booking for discovery and review meetings.
- Google review requests from satisfied clients.
What does the TPB Code require at onboarding?
Before providing services, a tax practitioner must complete proof of identity for a new client and tell current and prospective clients in writing about the TPB register, how to complain, both parties' rights and obligations, any prescribed events and any registration conditions. Client records are kept for at least 5 years.
The TPB advises against requesting ID by email and recommends recording the check rather than keeping the documents. Disclosures can sit on your website, in engagement letters and in the TPB factsheet, though the factsheet alone is not enough (TPB FAQs). Our guide explains what the TPB Code requires you to tell clients.
Does it replace my practice management software?
No. Jobs, time, billing, workpapers and lodgment stay in XPM, Karbon, FYI or whatever you run. LYD Accrual OS covers the stages before and around that work: the website, the enquiry, onboarding, document collection, reminders, bookings and reviews.

How do reminders line up with the lodgment program?
Reminders work best when they are tied to the dates that matter for each client group. Under the ATO's current lodgment program for individuals and trusts, key dates are 31 October 2026, 31 March 2027 and 15 May 2027, with a 5 June 2027 concession date for some clients.

How much does accounting practice software like this cost?
LYD Accrual OS is quoted in a written proposal before you commit. The VCPility plans it runs on start from A$165 a month plus GST, as published in October 2026. Team size, website scope and integrations change the figure.
Ask for the full monthly cost, the contract term and notice, and how client data is returned if you leave, in writing.
Common questions
When did AML/CTF obligations start for accountants?
1 July 2026. A firm must enrol with AUSTRAC within 28 days of first providing a regulated service.

No. Obligations attach to designated services, such as setting up or restructuring companies and trusts or handling client money. Check AUSTRAC's accountant guidance for your services.
Can clients email their ID documents?
The TPB advises practitioners not to request ID by email. Use a secure channel and record the check.
How long must records be kept?
At least 5 years for TPB client records and proof of identity checklists, and at least 7 years for AML/CTF records.
Is LYD Accrual OS an AML/CTF program?
